I have a pipe threader, but I have never used it.
I need a 1/2 inch pipe threaded so I can be plugged so I can turn on the hot water.
I cannot remove this pipe to take to Home Depot to have it threaded because it has been there for who knows how long.
I fear that if I push too much with the wrench it will break. I tried lubricating the joint.
For the present I can do without hot water to that bathroom sink that pipe goes to; I just want to be able to turn on the hot water. The stop valve to that sink was broken. I removed it thinking I could just replace the valve. Unfortunately, I did
not realize that the supply line pipe was 1/4 in brass, and fittings for that are unavailable. So I cut into the galvanized pipe
in the basement that leads to this sink and removed the piping beyond that to the sink. I now can do one of two things.
I can thread that pipe and cap it; in this way I can turn on the hot water to the house.
Or, I can go further and install new plumbing from there to that sink for the hot water there.
I am capable to install the new plumbing, but I do need someone to thread that pipe. If they want, they can do the rest.
Please state you capabilities, and the amount you require.
The house, by the way, as is obvious, is very old. We replaced most of the supply line piping, which was galvanized, to cpvc, but some of the galvanized remains as it does in this case.
