In celebration of Make A Difference Day, you are invited to join the Spokane Riverkeeper and Plastic Free Washington coalition for a regional Community Clean-Up Day on Saturday, October 22. Join us to make a dent in our growing waste problem and learn about ways that folks can take action to prevent plastic waste.
Meet us in the parking lot south of Mission Avenue to pick up your pickers, gloves and trash bags and help keep plastics out of your river.
Plastic is everywhere- from the streets in our neighborhoods to our favorite parks and beaches. Yet, plastic production continues to increase, even while our landfills are overflowing, and Washington’s recycling systems are struggling with low, and even declining, recycling rates.
Plastic is nearly impossible to avoid since so much packaging is made of plastic materials that are not recyclable, compostable, or reusable. That’s why we are bringing people together on Make A Difference Day: we can and must tackle our growing waste problem in Washington.
RSVP for the Spokane River Clean-Up to tackle waste in your own community, and learn how we can improve our recycling systems in Washington and move towards a plastic-free future.
Clean-up events will be held in Bellingham, Seattle, Olympia, Tacoma, Ocean Shores, Copalis, Spokane, and Port Angeles on Saturday, October 22. Join with your family and friends to take action and help us prevent unnecessary plastic pollution.
See you then!
