Description

You can roast it, broil it, smoke it, or fry it-- any fully cooked turkey is welcome at Gather & Give! For the fifth year, we're encouraging you to support Gather & Give by signing up to BYOB (Bring Your Own Bird)! Do so by registering here and cooking a turkey that can be shared with our neighbors at Gather & Give. Your donation of a fully cooked and carved turkey will be paired with freshly cooked fixings and for dine-in service for City Mission residents and packaged in individually wrapped containers to-go for the community-at-large. The meals will be distributed to community members who face poverty, homelessness, or joblessness. If you're volunteering to BYOB, please follow these guidelines:Choose a turkey that is 10 lbs. or larger. Just think, for every pound, you can feed 1-2 people in need! Start thawing your turkey in the refrigerator at least FOUR days before cooking, and even longer for bigger birds. No stuffing, please.Cook your turkey fully: A whole turkey is safe when cooked to a minimum internal temperature of 165°F as measured with a food thermometer. Check the internal temperature in the innermost part of the thigh and wing and the thickest part of the breast.Carve your turkey as you would on Thanksgiving Day!Place your turkey in a disposable tin and deliver it to the City Mission any time between Noon and 1:30 PM on Saturday, November 12, 2021.Tell your friends! #GatherAndGive2022Frequently Asked Questions:Q: Can I cook more than one bird?
