Description
A fast casual Asian restaurant near Millennium Park is looking for a line cook that will be mainly responsible for a limited menu - preparing simple sushi rolls and a selection of easy appetizers and a few main dishes. We are looking for a professional line cook to prepare food based on simplified recipes and to set up stations for ingredients. This role includes prepping ingredients. This role is open to be a permanent position for the right person
Responsibilities
• Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies
• Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, meat, preparing sauces)
• Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff (1-2)
• Clean up station and take care of leftover food
• Stock inventory appropriately
• Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
• Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
• Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
Requirements
• Proven cooking experience, including experience as a line chef, restaurant cook or prep cook. Sushi rolling can be trained and recipes are straight to the point
• Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
• Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
• Familiar with industry’s best practices
Salary: $14.50 - $18.50 per hour based on experience
