Description

Seeking a guitarist to join our band of friends who play music for fun. Background: * We are a group of friends who play for fun at our apartments and studios, and periodically do community events (at event centers, homes, park with permits). * We have not charged for any event to date and not expecting to do so in the near future, so this is all for fun. Of course if we get good enough we may seek payment, but that is not our principal aim. * Typically we have ~6-8 members (piano, accoustic/electric guitar, base guitar, sax & flute, and several vocalists) but our lead guitarist (electric, accoustic, lap steel, etc.) is leaving. We also hire a pianist and drummer for gigs and all chip-in as a band. * Music: All cover songs in the pop, soft pop, folk, R&B, Country. jazz standards and contemporary (not much). Lots of 1960s, 1970s. * Example Artists: Van Morrison, Beatles, Doors, Temptations, The Allman Brothers, John Denver, James Taylor, Eric Clapton, Credance Clearwater Revival, Dobie Gray, Debby Boone, The Foundations, Santana, Traveling Wilburys, Bee Gees, Carpenters, Billy Joel, Janis Joplin, Looking Glass, Roy Orbinson, Mamas & The Papas, Queen, Eagles Frequency: From Feb - November we get together every few weeks, especially if we are preparing for an event. Practice: At studios in mid-town Manhattan typically. All band members chip-in for room rental. Events/Gigs: Typically 3-5 per season. We'll generally have 2-3 rehearsal leading up to a gig. Gig rehearsals typically at Funkadelics or Michikos in mid-town Manhattan. All band members ship-in for both rehearsals and any costs for the event (such as hiring pianist, drummer, sound engineer). Event/Gig Sets: We typically play 90 minutes to 3 1/2 hours. Anywhere from 20 songs to 50 songs. Videos: After we connect if it looks promising we'd be happy to share videos of some of our events this year Who are we: We are in our 40s, 50s, and 60s and have day jobs as lawyers, bankers, consultants. We love music, are friendly and welcome others into this activity with us so prefer someone who is friendly and easy-going too. Would be great to make another music friend.
