"F*ck Columbus", 21+ event to raise funds for the Indigenous community. Did you know that only 0.4% of philanthropic dollars go to the Indigenous community? In an effort to solve this challenge, I’m organizing a counter-thanksgiving event on Nov. 5th called “F*ck Columbus” to raise funds for @7WatersCanoeFamily . An Intertribal Canoe Family with the mission to advance collective healing from the lasting impacts of colonization and ongoing settler colonialism. Reclaiming and revitalizing cultural connection as Indigenous peoples to the sacred waters. To the Indigenous community, Thanksgiving is a day of mourning, healing, learning, and giving back. "F*ck Columbus" is not a thanksgiving celebration. It is a reminder that while we give thanks for our friends and family every year, what happened to our Indigenous brothers, sisters, and non-binary persons should not be forgotten. We will gather to support and show love by connecting people across all cultures through food, music, and games. This event will also consist of raffles, giveaways, and sponsored gift bags. With our help, 7 Waters Canoe Family will be closer to their goal of $20,000 to continue helping those struggling in their community.
