Starring Christopher Hartway, Jr., Ebony Kimble, and John Mark James. The Inspiration "The Emperor Jones" was 4-time Pulitzer Prize winner, Eugene O’Neill’s first big hit. It was also the first play to star a black man (Paul Robeson) on Broadway. The story follows the morally questionable Brutus Jones, who escapes jail and becomes emperor of a Caribbean Island. The Eugene O’Neill Foundation recognized Vernon E. Williams, creator of The Mayor Jones, for giving new life to one of O’Neill’s signature works. The Premiere A Red-Carpet night on November 4th, 2022 at the famed Esquire Theatre (320 Ludlow Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45220) for the first ever showing of The Mayor Jones. After the film there will be a Q&A with the cast & crew. Drinks will be provided for those who have purchased a drink ticket. Merchandise and apparel will also be available for purchase. Meet the Mayor Jones TeamVernon E. Williams – Creator/Writer/ProducerRecipient of the Eugene O’Neill Foundation’s Travis Bogard Artist in Residence Fellowship, Vernon wrote The Mayor Jones, originally as a play and caught the eye of some of O’Neill’s most dedicated supporters. It was lauded as a fresh new take on an old classic after being performed at Miami University. Outside of The Mayor Jones, Vernon has several other projects in the works. He believes that every hidden story deserves to be told, and as the CEO of Muted Rays Melded Media, that is exactly what he intends to do. Ethan Avery – Director A multimedium storyteller, Ethan’s a veteran in the filmmaking business. With a decade of experience under his belt working with film crews on visuals, sound, script, and everything in-between. Ethan has worked with everyone from NFL stars to everyday folks and he does not care where a story originated, as long as it’s a good one. As the author of the critically acclaimed novel Sword and Sorcery: Frostfire, quality is always the priority for him.
