Crappy beginning e-bass player looking for fun

I'm a super fun and cool GenX mom. I've studied music my whole life and recently took up the e-bass. I've had three months of lessons through Bellinghome and I can play one song well, Jeff Lorber's Tierra Verde. Other than that, I can follow a basic 1, 4, 5 chord progression with the best of them, and love doing so to a standard blues scale. I really just want to dork around and jam. Some day, I want to be in a band. I am eager to get experience and learn. Is there a place for me anywhere? I can sit in the background with headphones on and just play along silently to anyone else.
