We were at the check-out at Berkeley Bowl on Tuesday, October 4th, and you asked me about my close-toed but back-less Birkenstocks and inquired as to whether my heels got cold. Your Birks were open-toed. You said you were from New Mexico; I said I was from New York State. We talked very companionably for a couple of minutes and then parted ways and I went home and thought about all this. Coffee sometime?
