Join Olori Temple for Oya's Hoodoo Halloween. A day of children's games, trick or treating, fun, lightweight spell casting and costume partying. Bring the whole family for a day of fun Halloween Hoodoo happiness! October is Hoodoo Heritage Month. Hoodoo is and was a spiritual practice used by African Americans to combat slavery and anti black violence and terrorism during the years of segregation. Hoodoo is a spiritual heritage for survival and living in concert with natural laws. There's nothing bad about hoodoo however it is intentions of the conjurer that determine the outcome of a spell. Try to always have good intentions. Schedule of Events 3-6pm Bring your children for fun and games and trick or treating around the HerCRU Farmhouse grounds. Kids are encouraged and welcome to wear costumes. Be prepared to play tug of war, 3 legged race, sack race etc! 6pm Opening of The Hoodoo House of Spells! Take a walk through our Hoodoo House of Spells where you'll get the opportunity to try your hand at some fun hoodoo spells to bring forth money, luck and other desired outcomes. Don't be shy.. there's a little conjurer in all of us! 6-7pm Costume Party and Cocktail Hour Begins. Adults come dressed in your favorite Hoodoo legend's Halloween costume. Think Marie Laveau and Dr Buzzard style costuming or animal costumes such as cats or birds etc. If you're a parent from the kids party take a moment to change into your costume in one of our changing rooms. Let's have some fun. Feel free to BYOB or have a fun drink at our bar. 7-8pm Oya Bembe Begins. Be ready to dance to the Orisha drums and sing along to the Orisha chants we all love so much! Feel the beat! It's going to be live y'all! 8-11pm DJ Greg G will be spinning your favorite R&B, Hip Hop, Reggae and Afrobeats tunes. Drop it low drop it low! Food for sale by HerCRU Farmhouse Kitchen It's gonna be a night to remember. $10 for free for children 17 and under. Be a vendor at Oya's Hoodoo Halloween. $60 vendor fee. Bring your tables, chairs and tent. Set up starts at 2pm. Can't wait to see you there! No refunds but but if you can't make the event your paid admission can be put towards a future event
