I am a volunteer with Wild Horse Connection and am sharing this information. Please please report if you see anyone trying to steal/hurt/ take a Wild Horse from the range..thank you! Heads up! Someone appears to be stealing range horses in Silver Springs south of the airport. Our crew was sent out to get a rope off a mare that had "disappeared" for a few days. A couple of other mares are missing. These horses are state property. Capturing and keeping a horse constitutes grand larceny, basically the same as automobile theft. We got the rope off this mare and she is back with her band. At least two other horses are unaccounted for. If anyone sees a horse at large dragging a rope or has reason to suspect that someone is holding any state-owned range horses, please make a report to the 24-hour hot line. If the operator is busy your call will go to voice mail. In that case please leave pertinent details on the voice mail. This is the same number you can use to report other types of range horse emergencies. Thank you.
