We are looking for a maintenance handyman with some existing skills and experience. Apartment/rental property handyman experience is preferred, but any experience with maintenance/repairs or knowledge in carpentry, minor plumbing, or minor electrical repairs, etc is helpful. We are looking for someone who works well independently, as well as collaboratively in a team setting. About us: Vertex Real Estate is a growing residential property management company overseeing a variety of rental properties centered in Amherst, Massachusetts and the surrounding towns. We have a variety of houses, multi-unit buildings, rental condos, and small complexes. Most of our properties are in Amherst, Sunderland, Hadley, and a few in Northampton. We also have some properties in Chicopee, West Springfield, and Holyoke, so focusing on that area is a possibility as well. We are looking for someone who is located reasonably close to these areas. The Job: Our tenants call us year-round for a wide variety of small repairs. The work spans all the different areas of the trades: minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry repairs, trouble-shooting heating systems, appliance repair, pest/rodent control, interior painting, fixing issues with doors, windows, blinds, screens, smoke and CO detectors, roof leaks, flooding basements, etc. If there are certain kinds of work that you can't or won't do, we may be able to work around the limitations. Requirements: -A reliable vehicle to use to get to job sites -Your own basic hand tools -Some amount of previous related experience Hours: There is some flexibility with setting up the schedule, but we are looking to make a regular schedule that is the same every week. Minimum of 20 to 30 hours per week, with the potential of more hours. This allows you to plan other jobs and time off ahead of time, and to have regular work that you can schedule around. Particularly looking for availability on Mondays and Fridays. Availability in the afternoons is preferred. Willingness for after-hours on-call work is a plus, but not a requirement.
