Northport Boat Yard is seeking a full-time yard worker. Job duties may include, but are not limited to: -Operating boat yard equipment, such as small tractors, marine travel lifts, hydraulic trailers, forklifts, etc. -Working as part of a team to safely and efficiently maneuver small to large boats during haul out and launch for storage and/or maintenance. -Assisting with stepping/un-stepping sailboat masts. -Delivering or picking up boats or personal watercraft to/from customers. -Performing assigned duties that are appropriate for the employee's knowledge and skill set, such as fiberglass and gel coat repair, detailing, mechanical repair/servicing, sailboat rigging, carpentry work, painting, varnishing, etc. -Performing general labor (e.g., cleaning buildings, landscaping). The ideal candidate enjoys working outside and as a team, able to stand for long periods of time, and able to lift heavy objects. Who we are: Northport Boat Yard, located on Lake Michigan's Grand Traverse Bay, has been offering professional marine services since 1965. We are conveniently located within cruising distance from some of the most popular cruising ports in northern Michigan. Our marine service yard offers heated and unheated storage facilities, along with accommodations for outdoor mast-up sailboat storage. In addition to our 77 ton marine travel lift, we also have a 40 ton self-propelled Con-O-Lift hydraulic trailer, a 20 ton Con-O-Lift hydraulic trailer, a 20 ton hoist, and crane and forklifts. Our yard can service and store boats from 13 feet to 70 feet in length. We pride ourselves on offering competitive, quality service for both power and sailboats. Our experienced staff includes factory trained technicians, skilled craftsmen, and rigging experts. Conveniently open year-round, our service team can assist with all boat maintenance needs, ranging from hull painting to fiberglass repairs in our heated workshop, which is stocked with factory authorized parts and accessories.
