Description

Pause. Breathe. Connect. While COVID-19 and its impacts remain front and center, we are collectively moving forward in its wake with a broader and deeper understanding about health & healthcare inequities more than ever before. In Maine and across the country, the root causes of health disparities are vast and effective solutions are few. Organizations across industries are devoting time and human resources to focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion. In healthcare in Maine, organizations small and large are working to better understand their communities & their own cultures and behaviors that led us to today’s health disparities. Philanthropic organizations are shifting their funding priorities to better support the work to eliminate unconscious biases and their resulting disparities. In Portland, Mercy Hospital is one of those organizations. On December 5th, we look forward to gathering with you to learn about and discuss bright spot projects positively impacting communities in the Portland area. We hope you will join us, engage in the discussion, and take action to eliminate health disparities in your own sphere of influence. Join us to Pause. Connect. Reflect. Act. This dynamic meeting will include an inspiring keynote, and plenty of time to network with alumni and health leaders from across the state. We’re thrilled to be back in-person and hope you will join us. It has been too long. You need it. We need it. And we cannot wait to “see” you! This year we are honored that Melissa Skahan, MA, Vice President of Mission Integration & Support Services at Mercy Hospital, has partnered with us to keynote our Annual Meeting & Networking Event! Melissa brings decades of working with Portland community leaders to assure access to quality healthcare for all who enter Mercy’s doors. Melissa will share her insights and challenge you to innovate to eliminate bias and health inequities across Maine. We hope you will set aside the time to join us from wherever you are to reconnect with the Hanley Center and Maine's health leaders including your fellow alumni. Donate: Like all non-profits, the Hanley Center needs the financial support of its community partners and alumni. Whether you can join us (or not), please consider a donation to the Hanley Center to support its important work. The Daniel Hanley Center for Health Leadership is a non-endowed 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Your generous financial assistance supports our continued statewide efforts, including leadership development initiatives, our undergraduate healthcare summer internships, and our work in mitigating implicit biases that lead to health inequities.
