Description

Join artist and meditation teacher Stephanie Joyce for a guided exploration through The Watermill Center Collection accompanied by sound healing. Pulling from the principles of “Slow Art,” Joyce will guide participants through viewing selected pieces of ancient art, encouraging a practice of slowing down and entering a meditative space to better appreciate and connect with art and historical objects. Healing Arts @ The Watermill Center is a series of workshops and guided meditations offering the public the chance to explore the intersection of art and wellness. Through hands-on activities with a rotating roster of artists, the local community is invited to explore the healing power of art in a communal and experimental setting. ABOUT THE ARTISTStephanie Joyce is an artist and certified yoga, and meditation teacher. She studied at Omega Institute, Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health and Parmath Niketan, India. Through mindfulness practices she discovered a new way of being in the world and inner peace. This gave her a desire to share with her community. Joyce has led meditation, yoga and intuitive painting groups for the Community Mindfulness Project in CT, IB Global Conferences, Columbia University Hospital Integrative Healing Program, The Retreat Center for Domestic Violence, and has designed and led a corporate wellness program for Aksia Research which included meditation, yoga, art and nutrition. Stephanie Joyce has been a life-long artist and studied at Parsons School of Design. Her work has been exhibited throughout the country and in Europe. The focus of her art is to create meditative environments that honor the natural world and enrich the soul.
