*To apply for this position, you MUST submit a full application packet including cover letter, resume, and LWWSD application form, which can be found on our website or via our Facebook page.** Lake Whatcom Water & Sewer District, a special purpose government entity providing municipal water and sewer service in the Sudden Valley/Geneva/North Shore areas, is presently recruiting for a full-time Maintenance Worker Lead. This position is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the District’s water treatment, storage and distribution systems, and sewage collection and conveyance system, including varied manual work, maintaining electronic equipment and systems, and operating heavy and specialized equipment. Also assists in training other employees in District operations and maintenance activities, and supports the Operations & Maintenance Manager by providing work assignment and direction to maintenance staff. Responsible for safety of maintenance staff and on-site work performance and standards. The position exhibits strong leadership and team building skills and performs all functions of maintenance staff. This is a journey level lead position that requires little or no supervision. The District offers excellent benefits, including WA State PERS Retirement, health/dental/vision insurance, a voluntary deferred compensation program with District contribution after one year, and vacation and sick leave. The salary range is $35.37 to $44.75 per hour, DOQ. Incumbents in this position are subject to both after-hours call out and overtime, and must live within a 30 minute drive of District boundaries. The position is represented by the AFSCME bargaining unit. Per District policy, all employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment. Being fully vaccinated means that an individual is two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen.
