Description

Interested in improving your writing? If you want help finishing your novel, guidance with a short story, or you simply enjoy the creative process of crafting a tale, this eight-week course is useful, enjoyable and interesting. Each session we look at a different aspect of story-telling such as point of view, plotting, or characterisation, and we also critique and offer feedback on pieces written by participants. Suitable for all adults no matter their age, experience, ability or background. It will be informal but informative, and even if you are writing nonfiction or memoir you are welcome to sign up. Each class is a stand-alone session, so it’s not imperative you make all eight. Instructor Stephen Rea, originally from Northern Ireland, was a national newspaper journalist in the UK and has lived in New Orleans since 2004. He taught this course for four years to 200 writers at the Walker Percy Center, Loyola University, and is the author of the books Finn McCool's Football Club and World Cup Fever. DETAILS Eight-week course Tuesdays from 7 – 9pm Starts on September 20 and runs until November 8 Cost - $300 In the Crow’s Nest private room at Mid-City Yacht Club, 440 S St Patrick Street (it’s a bar, not a yacht club!)
