Veterans, military members, and families can come join SCDNR and certified instructors on the Naval Weapons Station to learn about saltwater fishing! We will have rods and reels to borrow, bait, and everything you need to try your hands at fishing. We want to provide a relaxed environment so you can enjoy your time spent fishing. So come out and fish, enjoy the outdoors, and make this a Fishing Fun Day! *MUST HAVE A VALID MILITARY ID/DoD ID TO GET ON BASE* Details for the event: • What to bring: Dress is casual. Check the weather report and dress appropriately as you will be outside. Other items to consider bringing include a hat, sunglasses, bug spray and a reusable water bottle. Everything you need to participate in this event will be provided to you EXCEPT for your saltwater fishing license. This is a catch-and-release event. • Fishing License: If you are 16 or older, you must have a valid South Carolina Saltwater Fishing License. You can purchase a license here, at one of our titling offices (M-F), Wal-mart, most sporting goods stores, local tackle shops, or over the phone. All you need is your driver's license number. You can also contact your base recreation department or the building to get your saltwater license. • Costs: The event is free of charge. • Weather: Event will be held rain or shine unless hazardous weather occurs. • Parking: We will be meeting at the parking lot near Pier Bravo on the Naval Weapons Station. Pier Bravo sustained damage so we, unfortunately can't fish from the pier.
