The Family Day of Code, Tinkering, and Play is an annual event that Yavneh Day School has been hosting for nine consecutive years. This event allows Yavneh opens its doors to the entire community and for any and all local STEAM students and families to experience the Yavneh STEAM initiative in our warm, welcoming learning environment. Every year, the event has a unique theme. This year, our theme is Back to the Future, where we are utilizing wisdom from our past to innovate our future with STEAM. STEAM community, we challenge you to put your ingenuity to the test! Together, you and your family will: 🦴 Work on an archeological dig 🚀 Build and launch rockets 🚰 Create a working irrigation system prototype 🤖 Solve coding and robotics puzzles 🤔 Complete a family challenge & SO MUCH MORE! Open to all - Invite your friends! This is event is for families with children aged PreK to 8th grade. All the sessions will be grade/age-specific. Yavneh Students: If you bring a friend you get a special gift. The 9th Annual Family Day of Code, Tinkering, and Play 9.0 is offered at no charge to participants and includes a light lunch. For questions, please email [email protected] -----DETAILS---- All sessions will be divided by age. Throughout the day, families will enoy coding or robotics sessions, three different and new tinkering stations, and a family engineering challenge all geared to experiencing past STEAM disciplines to innovate our future using STEAM lenses. New this year : Tinkering Stations: All new tinkering stations will feature STEAM displines from the past (archeological dig) and ways to innovate our future using STEAM (irrigation system). Back by popular demand: our classic build and launch your rocket!Family Challenge (open to everyone) build prototypes of tools that will help archaeologists dig for and clean artifacts. You will be able to test your tools in our archeological dig on-site!Age groups: Middle Schoolers and their families: we created a special "compact" track of 90 minutes for students to enjoy the highlights of the event with the option to stay longer if they are available. During these 90 minutes, Middle School students will be part of the welcoming gathering and community lunch, and then they will participate in a shorter version of the family challenge, and a full version of exploring firsthand the archeological dig! If students are able to stay longer they will be able to participate in a brand-new Robotics experience and the other tinkering stations. Middle Schoolers can also sign up to volunteer and help coordinate stations. Families with kids PreK-2nd grade: families will experience: coding sections divided by age group, the three tinkering stations, and a family challenge.Families with kids 3rd-5th grade: families will experience: robotics sections divided by age group, the three tinkering stations, and a family challenge.
