Arborist Assistant - Job Description The arborist assistant is responsible for assisting the arborist in all aspects of the operations of the arbor culture group within the company, from customer service of arbor cultural services, through to the delivery of those services. Responsibilities and Duties Assisting arborist while responding to customer questions Execute all types of pruning activities as assigned Carry out range of arbor culture related work including; -pruning of trees and shrubs -repair of damaged trees -fertilization of trees and shrubs -installation and transplanting of small and large trees -application of pesticides to control insects disease and pesticides -stump grinding -tree removal Executing work in a safe manner Maintaining the truck and other equipment used in the performance of the work. Ensure all persons working on site are using appropriate PPE Perform all other landscapes services as assigned SKILLS Some familiarity with the structure and physiology of trees and shrubs Some familiarity with major diseases of trees shrubs common to this region Some familiarity with the insects and pests of significance Must be familiar with all aspects of safely working in trees and around safety hazards such as power lines QUALIFICATIONS Must have completed course in Power Line Hazard Analysis and safe working practices Valid drivers license, first aid, and Fall protection training are required. Must have demonstrated competency in tree climbing, chainsaw safety, and small engine use, care and maintenance
