Description
Former touring bassist, sometime session player, looking for more playing opportunities. Not really looking to get back to local shows, unless there's a guaranteed audience (but it seems like that's only the case if you're a cover band, which I'm not interested in), but I'd like to play again. Standing in a room with other people, making a racket, and figuring out how to make that racket better.
I can play a half dozen instruments, but my main axe these days is a baritone guitar.
In case you're not familiar, the low string on a baritone is typically tuned to either A or B, halfway between guitar and bass. You can find a baritone on--
Batphone - Arctic Monkeys
Falling In Love (Is Hard On The Knees) - Aerosmith
Caroline, No - Beach Boys
Wichita Lineman - Glen Campbell
Take Me To Church - Hozier
Rock Lobster - B-52s
Theme from Twin Peaks
I've played in groups as small as 2 and as large as 13 (not counting high school choir/orchestra), and understand how to work an arrangement to allow space or build a wall of sound. Musical taste ranges from classic styles like folk or blues through psych and disco up to nu-funk (according to Spotify lol)
I'm a little older, and have a day job, so I can't necessarily come play on like, a Tuesday at 11am, but I'm also the type that turns off his phone during rehearsals.
Preference given to danceable, artsy, weird shit.
Extra preference given to people who are queer, sober, and empathetic (like me!)
