URJ Olin-Sang-Ruby Union Institute (OSRUI), a Summer Camp in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, seeks a Physical Plant/ Facilities Manager to lead the day-to-day management of the facilities on a 250 acre property with 60+ buildings. The OSRUI Facilities Manager is responsible for providing and maintaining a safe, clean, and attractive environment to help the URJ and camp create communities of belonging that build confidence and character of young people. The Facilities Manager is responsible for year-round oversight of the entire site, supervision and management of maintenance and facility staff as well as outside vendors, and hands-on maintenance of the facility. The Facilities Manager reports to the OSRUI Executive Director and is responsible for the following: Leadership • At all times, maintain a complete and consistent presence as a leader within the camp community with respect to role modeling of institutional principles and Jewish values, supervision and accountability for all rules and procedures, and dedication in all respects to the camp’s mission and vision. • In partnership with Executive Director, develop long and short-term strategic plans for facility improvements while keeping in mind the operational and financial sustainability of business. • Interface with and maintain favorable professional relationships with all municipal authorities, outside contractors, and vendors. • Implement “best practices” to maximize efficiencies and minimize the facility’s operational impact on the environment. • Oversee and manage budget for related areas of responsibility, providing ongoing monitoring of bids, purchases and inventory control. • Respond to emergencies quickly, coordinating with appropriate staff. Provide immediate response for Facilities emergencies. Site Management • Plan, coordinate, supervise, implement, and evaluate all aspects of camp’s facility management program in consultation with Executive Director. • Identify, manage, and conduct timely repairs to the facility that meet or exceed all code requirements. • Ensure the success of facility projects and capital projects in partnership with in-house staff and outside contractors and vendors. • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes related to all aspects of facility operations, including but not limited to safety/OSHA, building codes, and accessibility, as well with American Camp Association standards. • Prepare an annual facility evaluation and summary, making recommendations for the next year • Prepare and annually update inventory of all structures, infrastructure, grounds, equipment, and appurtenances Supervision of Staff • Supervise facility staff in a manner consistent with the values and beliefs of URJ Camps. • Provide on-going training, education, and supervision to staff. • Ensure staff follows safety guidelines relative to the individual tasks they are assigned. At all times, SAFETY is emphasized over the task. • Support URJ org-wide priorities. To be successful in this job, you excel in the following areas: • Maintenance. Experienced in general maintenance duties – general carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, understanding of HVAC systems, grounds keeping, and other general maintenance duties. Proficiency in the safe and proper use of power equipment’s and tools, heavy and light machinery, and building materials. Previous camp maintenance, facility/property management, or Facilities experience is desired. • Safety. Ability to understand and implement safety regulations and procedures. Ability, both visual and auditory, to identify safety hazards and monitor guest and staff behavior and enforce appropriate safety regulation and emergency procedures. Ability to safely and properly use power tools and equipment. Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury). • Communication. Effective oral and written communication skills. • Licenses. Valid Driver’s License. • Communication & Collaboration. Ability to work on a team, relate and work well with others. Ability to accept guidance, direction, and supervision. Able to ask for help when needed. • REDI Experience (Racial Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion). ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS • A high school diploma or equivalent. • Physical Demands: Lifting and carrying up to 75 lbs. Stamina and willingness to work long hours, in inclement weather and for stretches of days. • Ability to work irregular hours including weekends at time. • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
