Sean Mullins is a veteran of the 30A Songwriters Festival and has performed at the last two Opelika Songwriters Festivals. He says the historic town offers music fans something special. "Downtown Opelika stands out for its authenticity," he said. "There are wineries, wineries, boutiques and pinball emporiums that reside in these beautifully restored original cotton warehouses and retail buildings from the pepper mill era of the early 1920s that fueled the economy all those years ago. These places - all within walking distance - are used as listening rooms for the festival, making this a fun, intimate gathering." The Indigo Girls' debut album sold more than 2 million copies on the strength of the 1989 singles "Closer to Fine" and "Kid fear," making the Indigo Girls one of the most successful folk duos in history. In 35 years of career, the grammy award winning duo from their hometown club of Atlanta, Georgia, a total of 16 studio album released (7 is gold album, 4 is a platinum album, 1 is double platinum album), sold more than 15 million albums, and set up a group of loyal followers and long lasting. Their latest critically acclaimed record, Look Long, is an exciting and eclectic collection of songs that finds the duo Amy Ray and Emily Saliers reunited in the studio of their strongest backing band as they document their personal growth in a more specific and focused way than any previous song cycle. Rickie Lee Jones will make her Opelika Songwriters Festival debut, and her memoir, "Last Chance Texaco," will be published in the spring of 2021. The New York Times wrote that her chronicle was "as colourful as Jones's best lyrics". The two-time Grammy Award winner is known for her sultry voice that ranges from deep yearning to late night.
