Brown Contracting, Inc. is well established and growing, (26 years in business), located in Eugene and Sherwood. We specialize in concrete and associated underground, excavation and grading. We construct thoroughfares, roads, ramps, walls, pathways, parks and open spaces throughout the State of Oregon on our prevailing wage projects. We are looking for an assistant to our mechanic to maintain and repair tools, vehicles and heavy equipment. You must be able to work with various machines and tools as well as follow all safety precautions while working under the direction of our mechanic and yard manager. Responsibilities • Inspect tools, trucks, trailers and heavy equipment and run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues • Assist with conducting repairs aiming for maximum reliability • Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner • Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment and systems • Replenish fluids and components of engines and machinery • Provide consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures to machine or vehicle users • Order and track parts and supplies • Keep logs of work and report issues • Maintain shop cleanliness Skills • Some knowledge of machinery and hydraulic, electrical and other systems and their components preferred • Aptitude in using various hand tools (screwdrivers, hammers etc.) and precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers) • Very good communication skills and problem-solving ability • High school diploma is preferred; Certification from a vocational school or completion of apprenticeship is a definite plus Job Type: Full-time Pay Rate: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour Benefits: • 401(k) • Dental insurance • Health insurance • Paid time off • Retirement plan Schedule: • 8 hour shift • Day shift • Monday to Friday Ability to commute/relocate: • Sherwood, OR 97140 Experience: • Diesel engine repair: 1 year (Preferred) • Mechanical knowledge: 1 year (Preferred) Please apply at
