The daycare attendant job description mainly includes but is not limited to managing a group of 25-40 dogs, janitorial duties, breaking up dog play, and cleaning any pet waste. Full time or part time (preferably 35 hours a week). Starting pay is $16 per hour with the opportunity to move up to higher paying positions. It is a fast paced, high stress job, but it can be very rewarding to work with a team to learn about and manage dogs. The position requires you to be able to lift and carry at least 50 lbs., stay on your feet for extended periods of time, communicate and function as part of a team, and handle/direct dogs of all breeds/sizes in a safe and gentle manner. Below is the exact job description: OVERVIEW: Santa Fe Tails is an upscale dog daycare, boarding, and training facility that provides safe socialization and care for dogs of all breeds. The primary goals of Daycare Attendants are to maintain safe playgroups and foster positive experiences for every dog while in the care of Santa Fe Tails. Qualifications: -Good physical health with the ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds -Able to follow instructions -Able to remain on your feet for several hours at a time -Have good communication skills with other people SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Floor and Team Leader, Daycare Attendants are responsible for the physical and psychological well-being of the dogs in their play group. With the goal of providing exceptional care for all dogs in the facility, a Daycare Attendant is responsible for performing the following duties but not limited to: running safe playgroups, walking dogs of all sizes/breeds, preparing individualized meals for each dog, organizing the inventory of each client’s belongings, bathing dogs of all sizes/breeds, cleaning the facility, using company-sanctioned behavior-modification methods with each dog, and other tasks as directed by your Floor and Team Leaders. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: -Assist in the daily activities of the daycare/boarding facility including but not limited to: preparing individual meals, running safe playgroups, and bathing dogs with specified shampoo types. -Maintain clean yards by cleaning up feces/urine/vomit/etc. promptly -Keep playgroup water bowls clean and filled with fresh water. -Monitor dogs and report any changes in behavior or health to the floor or team Leaders. -Commit to the use of positive reinforcement, handling, and care with all dogs. -Work collaboratively with other employees to learn or figure out the best methods for handling individual dogs, moving groups, and providing enrichment activities. (WORK AS A TEAM!) -Assist with the inventory of each dog’s belongings by utilizing our belongings checklist -Compile an inventory list of supplies for the facility and notify the Team Leader when stock is running low. -Interact daily with clients and foster a positive atmosphere. -Maintain a clean facility by utilizing provided cleaning tools. This includes washing and drying laundry, washing dishes, and cleaning the entire facility. -Setting up boarding suites with beds and water bowls and washing bedding and dishes as needed. -Other duties as assigned by shift Floor and Team Leaders. Critical Demands -Regular attendance and arriving on time are essential functions of this position -Ability to follow instructions given by floor and team leaders -Ability to safely handle dogs of all sizes/breeds -Daycare attendants spend the majority of the day walking or running on their feet -This position relies on teamwork and effective communication between all staff members -This position can endure frequent interruptions so flexibility and the ability to multi-task is crucial Exposure to a large number of potentially dangerous, fast-moving dogs and other working conditions such as poor ventilation, heat, cold, sudden temperature changes, sometimes wet quarters, noise, as well as animal odors and dander are common.
