Our small plating company in South Denver is looking for a full time shipping and receiving clerk to join our production team. Pay= $16.50-19 an hour. Summary/Objective The shipping and receiving clerk position verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties to quality and productivity standards. Essential Functions • Operates fork lift or pallet jack to convey, move or hoist materials to proper departments or areas. • Unpacks, examines and routes incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages. Receives and processes all defective parts returned for replacement or credit. • Translates purchase orders into travelers. • Transcribes travelers into an electronic format by doing production notes. • Responsible for making arrangements for pick up by the carrier specified on the customer’s purchase order. • Reports defective materials or questionable conditions to Customer Service Supervisor. • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations. • Answers phones and directs them to appropriate person. • Directs customer queries regarding expediting to Customer Service. • Directs questions regarding on time delivery to Production Manager. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, and air hoses. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to type 30 words a minute or more. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., 40+ hours per week. Required Education and Experience 1. Minimum of a high school education. 2. Ability to read and write English, follow verbal instructions and use simple math. 3. Licensed forklift truck operator is a plus but not a must. (Will train) 4. Must be a US Citizen or hold permanent residency card. Preferred Education and Experience 1. Familiarity with Microsoft programs used in this job preferred. 2. Special consideration for those who are familiar with Access based software.
