Progressive Jazz Band Seeks Permanent Brass, String or Woodwind Player

Meets

Los Angeles CA

Description

We are a somewhat established progressive-modern-jazz-improv band in LA prepping for our next ambition and seeking one more permanent lead player in the family. Our missing piece is either horn (sax/trumpet), string (electric violin/viola) or woodwind (flute/basson etc.). Our style has an ambient-electronic and progressive-rock base, but some amount of jazz skill, knowledge and ear training is still required to hold one's own. We use a lot of effects for our general sound, but we also solo and let loose in plenty of spots. (Infl: Jaga Jazzist, Alpha Mist, Tortoise, Skinny Puppy, Jean Luc Ponty, Weather Report, Miles Davis, Magma, etc.) This is not a regular gig but is a fairly serious side project, one that we're happy to be a part of just for the love of it. New players are not required to bring effects to auditions, but it's always recommended. The band's next meeting is a recording session coming up on the 9th of November, just for the sake of tracking while having fun improvising/jamming. The session will also serve as an auditions for anyone new who shows up. If the fit isn't right, hey no worries, at least you got to record with us. If interested, please email Dean here through craigslist and send him at least two links to your playing. Thank you for your attention!
