A unique opportunity to work alongside a leading contemporary artist and his international practice and studio. You will provide the highest level of support to the artist, creating an administrative framework to empower the artist to achieve specific goals and initiatives. Your responsibilities will be broad, spanning the artist’s professional and personal matters. You will play a lead role in establishing studio culture and team dynamic, and will represent the artist as necessary both internally and externally at the highest level. *** Local Candidates Only... An experienced assistant with a minimum of five full years of direct experience Operates with a sense of urgency, but in doing so does not compromise quality of work Has very strong organization skills (you pride yourself on how you think and plan), has an eye or a knack for making things look nice Has an ability to adapt well to changes and environment - handles last-minute changes with grace Very strong attention to detail, you enjoy diving into the details A self-starter. You have a track record of independently coming up with tasks and projects that make things run more smoothly How You Will Contribute: Artist schedule management: Ensuring artist’s calendar is optimized for priorities and kept up to date, auditing and gatekeeping to ensure efficient use of time Travel arrangements: Booking transportation and accommodations, and preparing detailed itineraries for personal and professional travel Communication on behalf of artist: Engaging with studio team and external parties efficiently and professionally Meeting records: Taking meticulous, actionable meeting notes when artist is and is not present Project management: Assisting with studio and personal projects, including matters related to project budgets and real and personal property management Studio administrative support: Assisting with general office administration and studio organization, including purchasing office supplies and setting up for meetings Daily errands and tasks: Handing matters such as dry cleaning, ordering lunch, returns, and coordinating with household staff What would set you up for success: Ability to copy edit press releases and interviews IT literacy and high level of proficiency using Google Drive and Calendar, Microsoft Office, and related software Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including confident telephone manner Your default is to over communicate when coordinating between parties You are always thinking 10 steps ahead and finding ways to outsource or automate where you can You understand the role of gatekeeper and are comfortable pushing back Availability to answer questions 7 days a week What would set you apart: You find comfort in a support role knowing your job is to highlight others from the background You enjoy finding ways to make things more efficient and automated Your friends are amazed at how thoughtful you are — for things like always remembering significant others’ names and sending gifts or notes for important occasions You have a strong memory and are able to take verbal cues and turn them into tasks You’re tech-savvy and have experience with Google products, and are comfortable with a wide range of technology (including Slack and other messaging products, task management systems like Asana, Affinity and more) This is a retained search being led by a firm.
