Lauren Thorngate, RN, PhD, CCRN‑K​ 5:30 pm Recognizing and Responding to an Opioid-Involved Breathing Emergency (1.0 CEU) Anita Jacobson, Pharm.D. Dr. Jacobson is a Clinical Professor at the University of Rhode Island. Her main area of teaching is as the Coordinator of the Pharmacists’ Patient Care Process Laboratories, which center around case-based learning, patient simulation, motivational interviewing, objective structured clinical examination, and patient counseling. Didactically she delivers content in the Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum in the areas of Childhood Psychiatric Disorders, Gastrointestinal Disorders, Cultural Sensitivity and Health Disparities. Dr. Jacobson is the Program Director of the Community First Responder Program (uri.edu/CFRP) and her clinical practice site is Eleanor Slater Hospital, which is part of the Rhode Island Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals. Her work experience as a pharmacist includes community and long-term acute care, as well as clinical practice in a variety of ambulatory and acute care settings. Dr. Jacobson received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Rhode Island. 6:30 pm Panel Discussion Casey Williams (DNP, APRN, FNP-C) Dr. Williams is faculty in the Rhode Island College Onanian School of Nursing. She teaches both didactic and clinical in the area of psychiatric and mental health nursing. She is also a nurse practitioner working at both Ocean State Recovery Center and Emory Recovery Center. Dr. Williams’ received her BSN and MSN degrees from Salve Regina University, and her DNP from Rhode Island College. Her DNP project focused on evaluating lifetime risk of substance use disorders and implementation of best practice prescribing for primary care providers. She has extensive experience in the fields of both internal medicine and addiction medicine. Christopher Dorval (LICSW, LCDP, LCDCS, DLD) Christopher is the clinical director at Ocean State Recovery Center and Emory Recovery Center. He has a wealth of experience in the world of addiction medicine and is known nationally as a speaker, clinician, and consultant in the field of substance use. He is an adjunct professor at the Rhode Island College in the School of Social Work, as well as a guest lecturer at multiple universities in the state surrounding trauma, addiction, and men's mental health. Chris graduated from Rhode Island College with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work. Danny Seliger (LCDP) Danny is a primary therapist at Ocean State Recovery Center. He studied at Rhode Island College with a double major in psychology and chemical dependency/addiction studies. He has worked in numerous inpatient, residential, and outpatient substance use settings. Kevin Keoghan (CPRS) Kevin works in community relations for Ocean State Recovery Center and Emory Recovery Center. He has a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from URI. He became a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist with Anchor Recovery Center and has worked alongside the Rhode Island HOPE Initiative. Steve Ricco (MS, LCDP, CSS) Steve works as the program director at Emory Recovery Center and has worked as a primary therapist at Ocean State Recovery Center. Steve is a Certified Advanced Chemical Dependency Professional licensed in multiple states. He has a bachelor's degree from Roger Williams University in Criminal Justice and a Master of Science Degree in Administration of Justice from Salve Regina University. Steve is also pursuing an additional graduate degree in the field of Clinical Social Work at Rhode Island College with a concentration on trauma-informed care.
