Hello There, I am hoping this gets into the right hands by reaching out and giving a bit of information about my situation. I welcome replies from trainers and healthcare workers as well as those who may want to refer me to someone, they are working with that they think may be a good fit for my situation. I am 40 years old, obese and have a panic attack disorder. I am very high functioning typically however, like any other disease, my anxiety symptoms worsen during times of stress. I went through something violent about three years ago and just haven't been able to regain my footing, fully. I am 5'3 and 300 lbs. I was very fit and active (sports and dance) until my early thirties. I am extremely muscular, so I carry my weight well and lose it quickly, so I love to incorporate weight training. I also enjoy stretching and flexibility. Meditation is a huge part of my life so I would love to do or incorporate yoga, Pilates, etc. In the past, nutrition has stood in my way. I have made great strides in that regard and have lost nearly 20 pounds on my own marrying that nutrition with walking/swimming. I know I can do better. In Truth; I'm tired. And I could really just use a coach in my corner to keep me going and remind me that I can do this, and I am not defined by my disability. I have others with disabilities who look to me for guidance and inspiration, so I am doing this as much for them as I am for myself - but under the radar to lead by example first. Movement is essential for great mental health. I want to be the living example for others so they can find a greater quality of life as well. Don't we all deserve that? I think so! Pros: - I really enjoy exercise and movement and find a workout routine essential to my life. I'm a bit lost without it. - Once I get started and we bond/establish trust, I'm unstoppable - Headstrong and willing to go above and beyond to get the results I deserve and desire - Naturally very friendly, sweet, positive and bubbly. I recover quickly and use my tools (which I will share with you to support me should I start to become anxious during our time together). Worst case scenario I will need to go to the restroom and gather myself together. But it certainly helps having someone there because obviously, it's embarrassing. - I have money set aside for training and believe in lifestyle changes not fads or quick fixes. I'm happy to do a regular and flexible schedule to make it easy for you with your other clients as well. I really want you to enjoy this process of growth and transformation as much as I do. I'd like to work with you closely for three months initially, if possible. I believe that ANYTHING we do CONSISTENTLY OVER TIME equals our RESULTS. :) Cons: - Low self-confidence and hard on myself - It is easier for me to "show up" for someone else, before myself - Tend to count myself out before I've even begun - More guarded than ever before because of the event which requires me to need a bit more support/handholding in the beginning it seems. While I do need someone with a heart of gold, I also need someone who is fiercely passionate about helping others through their life's work/purpose. All shapes, shades, ages, genders, abilities and orientations are welcome here. I'm even open to locations. I'm just looking for a great trainer doing great work in a great community for all of the right reasons. Thank you for your time!
