If you're currently operating in the field of public health within the SA Metropolitan Area, we invite you to the inaugural Community Health Worker Summit! Together we'll learn best practices of health interventions, share strategies to ward off burnout and network with other professionals in the public health sector. Hosted by Access to Care (SAMHD) & the Community Health Worker Hub, this year's theme stems from the post-pandemic acknowledgement of the impact CHWs have in San Antonio. Our assignment now, as community agents of change, is to light the torch of the incoming generation. Session topics to include: Mindfulness (focusing on practices and creating an individualized self-care plan)The body and its ability to heal itselfBoundaries within Servant LeadershipSinging Bowl meditation workshopsHow to deal with compassion fatigue with proper self-care& so much more!What is a Community Health Worker? A community health worker (CHW) is a frontline public health worker who is a trusted member or has a particularly good understanding of the community served. A CHW serves as a liaison between health and social services and the community to facilitate access to services and to improve the quality and culturally informed delivery of service. Parking for the event can be found in the lots outlined in yellow (below) as well as on the street. Carpooling is encouraged. FAQs Can I attend if I'm not a professional CHW? Certainly! We understand that community leaders exist in all areas of our society. If you belong to any of the groups listed in the definition of a CHW (above), we'd love to have you. Do I have to stay the entire 9am-5pm? We hope you do. The Access to Care Team and Community Health Worker Hub have worked strenuously to provide topics and subject matter experts (SMEs) in line with what most public health workers are in need of at the moment. Will lunch be provided? Yes, lunch will be provided for all attendees. Our caterer will also provide an educational discussion on the healing power of food. What should I wear? Whether business casual or your Sunday best, dress comfortably. We have several interactive activities and will be hosting breakout sessions between the Guadalupe Theatre & El Progreso Hall. Can I sign up my entire team? Your team is more than welcome to attend but for accountability's sake, we ask that each attendee register individually.
