The Inaugural Domestic Violence Awareness Symposium will take place on Thursday, October 20, 2022, 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM CST at San Jacinto College in Pasadena, Texas. This event is hosted by Shaye Lister, Crime Victim Liaison with the La Porte Police Department. This symposium aims to bring domestic violence to the forefront of the community, discuss the effects of domestic violence, inform victims that recovery is very possible, and encourage everyone to take a stand against domestic violence. Join us for a presentation about domestic violence featuring stories of survival from Dr. Clara Peters and Demika Z. Warren. Our Symposium Speakers will be: Joshua Collins-Brazoria County District Attorney's Office-How to Speak With Victims. Thecia Jenkins-Harris County Domestic Violence Coordinating Council-The Backstory and the Effects of Domestic Violence on Children. Alicia Nuzzie-Harris County Domestic Violence Coordinating Council-The Role of the Domestic Violence High-Risk Team. Jamie R. Wright-Resilience and Encouragement Speaker-Overcoming Domestic Violence. Breakfast and a light lunch will be provided. This will be a free event, however; YOU MUST REGISTER IN ORDER TO ATTEND.
