Description

What does it mean to be a Black man in leadership? How do we create a more equitable philanthropic/nonprofit sector that respects and honors our leadership? How does the philanthropic sector view our leadership? How do we create a more equitable nonprofit sector for Black-led organizations? These are questions that a group of Black male intellectuals, policymakers, philanthropists, and nonprofit leaders will take up during this uncomfortable, critical conversation. The discussion examines long-standing sector barriers to the success of Black-led organizations including narrow views of "leadership", overemphasis on philanthropic outcomes and outputs, and unequal collaboration. Spearheading this moment will be a discussion with: Dion Dawson | Social Entrepreneur & Hunger Disruptor | Dion’s Chicago Dream Greg Wilson | PhD Candidate | Dept. of Sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Michael Harvey | Program Officer, New Work Exploration | MacArthur Foundation Co-hosted by: Chicago African Americans in Philanthropy & Chicago Beyond
