Thursday night, 9/29/2022 at Seattle Center/ SIFF Gala/ Outside Climate Pledge Area after Iron Maiden, Or maybe at Queen Anne Dicks, or a bar on Roy that wasn’t McMenamins, but was nearby- maybe on a scooter ride on the street- a beloved necklace fell from my neck to the ground. It’s adorned me since I bought it for myself at Bessame Mucho in Key West in 2012. A gift to myself after leaving an abusive relationship. An inscription on the gold band of the necklace reads “I choose all”. I find myself again in a time of leaving a relationship. This time, not abusive, not awful. But stable, and secure, even if unsatisfying. So perhaps this loss of an object is part of a greater loss. And a universal way of choosing all. Still, I reached for this little hand many times a day. It has brought me comfort and compliments. I’d love to have her back. Reward if found and returned. Some kind of karma if found and not returned- another way of choosing all- and the kama of keeping could be good. I have no way to know this. “Joy is not found in the things which surround us, but lives only in the soul”. -
