SCHEDULE - Flexible Schedule - Full-Time: 36 - 40 hours - Morning Shift: 6am - 2pm - Afternoon Shift: 11am - 7pm - Must have Holidays and Weekend availability PAY RATE - Starting at $11 / hour depending on experience. - Merit raises or bonuses frequently applied with job performance. - Career progression based on performance. JOB DESCRIPTION This position is responsible for the overall care of our pet guests (the dogs). We treat all of our dogs (and their humans) as individuals. We get to know them by name and temperament. You’ll work in our Daycare and Boarding areas to care and ensure the safety of our pet guests in our facilities. The main duties include cleaning, feeding, medicating, and playing with our dogs. Experience in shelters, caring for multiple dogs, and previous dog care experience is a plus but will train the right person. You will learn dog behavior, play yard, and a variety of other skills. This person should have compassion and patience for dogs. IMPORTANT: We need someone RELIABLE and ON TIME each day. We also want to ensure you have a reliable way to get to work. We’re seeking a team player that is energetic, organized, self-motivated, takes direction well, trustworthy, has excellent communication skills and has great attention to detail. Our dress code is casual but professional and appropriate for a dog daycare / boarding environment (e.g., khaki long pants, jeans or long shorts with dark-colored, pull-over t-shirt). RESPONSIBILITIES - Handle dogs at check-in and check-out. - Oversee group play of 10 to 20 dogs. - Record and report accurate information on the status, activities, health and behavior of each dog. - Document and store food, medication and belongings for each dog. - Clean and sanitize kennels and dog play areas including sweeping, mopping, laundry, and dishes. - Provide food and water. - Work with dogs individually and in groups. - Ensure the safety and security of our dogs. - Take photos of our dogs for social media. - Treat customers, guests, visitors and co-workers in a professional, courteous manner. - Assists other team members as needed. - Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS - Reliable, punctual, and dependable. - Have a strong work ethic. - Ability to take direction well and apply it independently. - Attention to detail and ability to observe animal behaviors daily. - Able to handle a variety of animals safely and comfortably. - Willing to learn animal behavior to ensure their safety. - Good teamwork and willingness to assist other departments as necessary. - Ability to resolve problems quickly and professionally. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills. - Strong ability to prioritize and multitask; work with minimal supervision. - Values learning, receptive to feedback, and strives for self-improvement. - Previous animal care experience is preferred but not required. - CPR Training / Certification is a plus. PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS - Must be able to work some weekends and holidays. - Must be able to handle dogs on leashes. - Must be alert and undistracted at all times since working with dogs can be unpredictable. - Must be physically able to handle dogs of all sizes and to lift up to 40 lbs. - Must be able to be on feet 8 hours per day. - Must be able to stand, walk and climb stairs frequently. - Must be able to work under conditions that require sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing and grasping. - Ability to tolerate being in close contact with various bodily fluids and to get dirty frequently. - Ability to work in temperature extremes, work outside, or in distracting work environments such as loud noise / sound. - Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to disinfectant / sanitation. All of our positions require you to handle dogs daily so you’ll be able to learn valuable dog training skills every day you work.
