Here us out… It’s been said that A place is what you make it. Why can’t Our home(Central Oklahoma)Be a top destination location?! Yeah, you heard that. We kind of have no one to blame but ourselves to a certain extent. The way WE look at it,Now here us out. We’re looking at this thing the wrong way. Our glass is half full(unless you’ve seen Lake Hefner, oops Hefner pond lately. OK, the glass is 1/4 full(which is still better then the great Hefner Salt Lake). You’ve heard the saying location location location. Of places that have large populations and lots of tourism, (for the most part )are on either the east or west coast or gulf coast. (sit next to the ocean )Instead of being just another fly over state/ location with an identity problem. Most of our citizens Probably don’t even know that Oklahoma City enjoys all the bennifits of being ranked in the top three destinations in the United States ………for aircraft needing to make an emergency landing during cost tocoast flights full of vacation /business and those trying to evade the law..We moved up one notch to #2(just narrowly squeezing out a water landing in the Gulf of Mexico) Which fell to number three.yea! We bad! But we must not rest on our laurels(our couches, or our back sides). We mustn’t stop there we must set our sights higher. Momentum… We have to take advantage of what we already have. People in Colorado have mountains and cold weather mixed with enough moisture in the winter months(not to mention weed has been legal for years there) Build a couple of ski resorts and you’re done. They made their glass half full. You didn’t hear them whining and moaning about how slippery it is and “it’s hard to grow corn because it’s so jaggery and rocky and hilly, “wow wow wow“. They embraced (what others might have seen as a hurdle or an obstacle) So much, in fact… Where do you think “the mile high club“ came from? A lot of passionate embracing.. Are you starting to get the picture. Because of our geographical location, right smack dab in the middle of the action, people/vacationers/business travelers will find us faster and cheaper(and not because we’re located in the middle and it takes less gas to get from California to New York hence, Less expensive And a shorter distance. The argument of, yeah but Oklahoma City is certainly no New York City. Broadway the Big Apple etc. etc. How dare you! As far as “big apples“ ?don’t be so sure. I don’t wanna make this an Apple envy kind of post but I’m confident That those who have Tasted One of Oklahoma’s apples …Won’t spit it out. As for Broadway and taking in a show. Then you’ve never had the good fortune of experiencing, the author of this post, rush-hour Live concert sing along to the radio stuck in traffic on the BROADWAY Extension. Those “ Lucky enough“ to be at the right place at the right time.…Will undoubtedlyShare the experience with grandchildren. This is the part where this post might start to make sense(how much sense?You). When life gives you a flat dry windy “lemonade“That does not mean we have to settle for “Thedownwind bowling alley capital of the world“. The place just needs a little sprucing up because you never know who’s gonna show up. First impressions are the most important, I.e., you don’t get a second chance to make a first impression… (Unless The person you just met for the first time (and watched you &&/$/$)(&;@;@;&$|£]]%%for a full 25 minutes )attempts to run out to their car to retrieve their cell phone in an attempt to record the “act” Loses their footing, Causing, them to fallAnd bump their head …hard enough to experience a smidge of amnesia.) We’ll understand if this post is just too stupid and you decide to pass. We’ve become delirious in our continual disappointment. Let us close the post by saying this. If you are a career drug addict and scammer jammer. You will bring the worst out in us Please possess enough self respect and behave in a manner that says you have some degree of domestication. And for God sakes don’t arrive tweaking stoned drunk and complain about US as we rant in utter dis believe someone has the nerve.sad state of affairs of this country and its people.
