::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Please note: This is a HYBRID event and will be hosted both in person and on Facebook Live. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: What kind of communities do we need to make peace in a violent world? What does Christianity add to the practice of nonviolence? This event brings together the authors of three important recent books on nonviolence and Christian peacebuilding to discuss the steady, unheralded, and often difficult work of becoming communities of peace and resistance, people with the virtues and skill sets necessary to create nonviolent uprisings in the face of violence.  Our presenters are •    Gerald Schlabach, author of A Pilgrim People: Becoming a Catholic Peace Church, former director of Justice and Peace Studies at the University of St. Thomas, and current part-year resident of Guatemala •    Janna Hunter-Bowman, author of Witnessing Peace: Becoming Agents under Duress in Colombia and associate director of Peace Studies at Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary •    David C. Cramer, co-author of A Field Guide to Christian Nonviolence: Key Thinkers, Activists, and Movements for the Gospel of Peace and managing editor at the Institute of Mennonite Studies at Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: About the image above: Mural at Sembrandopaz ("Sowing Peace"), a grassroots peacebuilding organization in Sincelejo, Colombia; photo courtesy of Janna Hunter-Bowman ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Event Organizers: DePaul University's Center for World Catholicism & Intercultural Theology (CWCIT) and Peace, Justice, and Conflict Studies Program
