Title: Maintenance Assistant 2 Department: Public Works Employment Type: Full Time with Benefits (Open until filled) General Description: The Town of Reardan is accepting applications for a Maintenance Assistant 2. This is a highly responsible professional position that works directly with the Public Works Supervisor. Duties include, but are not limited to: Manual duties in the construction, maintenance, and repair work of utility systems and related services. Additionally, the Maintenance Assistant could be responsible for the operation of heavy equipment. The position assists the public works crew in work of water, sewer, streets and parks departments. This position requires consistent, in-person attendance on the job site. Education and Experience: • Municipal experience preferred • Must have a valid Washington State driver’s license. Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • This position can be classified as a general laborer position, required to be knowledgeable in working with a variety of small tools and be able to work independently. • The incumbent may be required to use the following tools and equipment: Motorized vehicles and equipment, including pickup truck, utility truck, mowers, common garden and lawn tools, saws, pumps, compressors, sanders, generators, common hand and power tools, shovels, wrenches, and detection devices. • Handle stressful situations, maintaining composure while under pressure. • Work as a member of team, treating others fairly and consistently and exhibiting a positive attitude. • Performs work in accordance with all federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations and within mandated and appropriate safety standards. • Responds to public inquiries in a courteous manner; provides information within the area of assignment; resolves complaints in an efficient and timely manner. • Responds to emergencies as needed. • Performs related duties as required. Environment: Work is performed both outside and inside, and employees are regularly exposed to traffic and differing weather elements.
