Motorhome Convertor Help

Hello mechanically inclined men or woman. I am seeking advice about my 1987 Mallard sprinter. There is the convertor box in the motorhome that is the power conduit for the RV. Because I live with three felines I am sure to check inside monthly to get hairs or due and dirt off of the fan and inside the box. And yes, I turn it off🙃 Last week I did what I do shining a flashlight inside and I'm have very long q tips which I dab on rubbing alcohol. I take out the dust and what not carefully. And then she works quieter and cooler. This time the system has gotten louder but the unit is running cooler? There are many connector that have been wrapped with electrical tape prior to me owning it.. I am sure there are more details for which I have not thought of this morning. I am not interested in a mobile mechanic or those expenses, just seeking some insight perhaps. Thank you in advance for your time
