“First Thoughts: How to Build Cultural Competency” is an engaging and interactive session designed and delivered by the Office of Multicultural Student Services that addresses the dismantling of stereotypes. First Thoughts seeks to engage participants in actively addressing stereotypes of groups of people, places, and/or things and challenges them to think beyond generalized ideologies to become the best version of themselves. The main objectives of the First Thoughts presentation are to:
Allow participants to think critically about diversity
Address Stereotypes with one another
Understand strategies and resources to build cultural competency
First Thoughts has proven to be an enlightening and engaging workshop for faculty staff and student groups of all sizes.
