The Big Freeze Winter Festival kicks off with Fire & Ice Night. This fundraiser event will raise money for the Delta County Search & Rescue Team. It will be held at the U.P. State Fairgrounds, Ruth Butler Building, on Friday February 17th, 2023 from 5:00-8:00PM (EST). There will be a chili cook-off, LIVE ice carving performance by Food Network's Randy Finch, music, 50/50 raffle, silent auction, and more! The 2nd Annual Big Freeze Ice Fishing Derby will be held on Saturday February 18th, 2023. Contestants will compete to catch the biggest Perch, Walleye, & Northern Pike (measured by length). Pre-Registration is required. Check-In will be held Friday February 17th, 2023 from 5:00-8:00PM (EST) in the Ruth Butler Building, located at the U.P. State Fairgrounds. Competitors will pick-up a 2023 Big Freeze hoodie and sign a liability waiver. The fishing derby runs from 4:00AM - 2:00PM (EST). Boundary waters include Little Bay De Noc. All entries must be submitted by 3:00PM (EST) for judging, in order to qualify for a change to win. The judging will take place at the U.P. State Fairgounds, in the Ruth Butler Building. The prize ceremony & dinner will be held 3:30 - 4:00 PM (EST). Must be present to claim prizes & show valid Photo ID. On Saturday February 18, 2023 from 12:00 - 6:00 PM (EST) there will also be family-friendly winter themed activities held at the Ruth Butler Building on the U.P. State Fairgrounds.
