Description
Our 9th Meet Up of the year will be hosted by the wonderful Christine Hopkins, co-owner of Aimsir Distilling Co. Aimsir [pronounced “aim-sure”] is a Gaelic word that means time, weather, and place and is a tribute to their family’s Irish heritage. With her husband Steve, she started their business in 2016 and later opened their Deco-inspired tasting room in 2020 to showcase their award winning gin as well as their whiskey, aquavit, and now vodka. As the CEO, Christine is passionate about ensuring their space is family friendly and welcoming to even nondrinkers. It will be a beautiful setting for our October meet up. In celebration of Filipina/o/x History Month, we've invited chef and owner Alexandria "Allie" Guevarra of Allie G's Pastries. Allie began selling her Filipinx baked goods in 2020 at pop ups and markets all over Portland. She was also a featured chef at Taste for Equity 2021. For this event, Allie has custom designed a plant-based friendly and Filipinx-inspired set menu for our founders. We are honored to have her join us this month. Last but not least, we'll have Filipina and small business owner Marchel Marcos join us to share her story alongside Christine and Allie. In addition to being a female founder, Marchel is the political director at Asian Pacific American Network of Oregon (APANO). Through her partnership, APANO is this month’s WSW Sponsor along with ALIST WSW. With the generous community donations to the Treat a Boss GoFundMe and the APANO sponsorship, we've raised enough money to pick up the lunch tab for 60 bosses. We’ll also have a no host bar and a few other surprises. Come get fed and inspired. 1 ticket per customer. Ticket sales are nonrefundable and go toward ALIST, a Filipina-Woman Owned consultancy organizing the event. After the event, we'll share contact information with all who registered to make meeting up again even easier. *************************** BACKGROUND PDX Indie Restaurants and Women Founders can benefit from a little community support. So we came up with an idea to combine the two under the collective power of Women Supporting Women (WSW). Gathering on a Wednesday of every month, we hope to bring business to a woman-owned restaurant and be in community with other founders on our lunch hour. This invitation is for *business owners only. Thank you for your understanding. *The intent of these meetups are to connect true business owners together so they can strengthen their relationships with others struggling through entrepreneurship. Business ownership isn’t for everyone and the folx attending are a certain subset of our community. Of course we are also treating them to an afternoon and much needed break, but the conversations center mostly around navigating this journey and knowledge sharing with other women. We don’t want to exclude folx looking for connection, but at the same time we want to hold onto the integrity of what this is. It truly is a rare and important space. If you feel this is you, you are welcome. If you don’t, I invite you to make a donation to the Treat a Boss GoFundMe campaign to show your support.
