EV vs Gas cost effectiveness = let's say...
My gas powered work and play car averages 400 miles a month not counting a few road trips. At 20 mpg I need 20 gallons at let's say $5.00. So $400 a month, not counting road trips, would be a continual charge, so to speak. A rising cost that is highly predictable.
An EV, once paid for with the aid of tax credits and that $400 savings per month, once paid off would be free traveling if one were to have their own solar panels for charging.
Now, there are batteries to replace and other maintenance issues that should be looked into.
As far as cleaner air, I used to think that that was the reason for them. I guess saving some money because of rising fuel prices is also an asset by adding more green into the pockets....
Personally, I don't think electric vehicles are for everyone. If they want to pay for cleaner air through increasing taxes, let 'em. Although, if the planet gets much warmer and more stuff burns, fossil fuels may become the least of our problems.
Like, how do we power solar panels if the air we breathe will not allow the sun to shine?
