SUMMARY: Tractor and equipment operator. Various other duties including but not limited to irrigation and plumbing system installation and repair, construction projects, and support and assistance for all other farm departments. This position reports to Katia / Ken Position Classification: non-exempt ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: • A heavy equipment operator operates or controls construction equipment, including but not limited to bulldozers, forklifts, backhoes, agriculture tractors • Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment • Road and pad construction, grading and maintenance. • Prepare farm for drainage from natural occurrences. • Stock piling and maintaining material piles. • Prepare fields for new plantings / installation (turn soil, disking, adding compost, slopes, etc.) • Prepare old fields for new plantings. • Prepare new fields as needed. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES: • Experience with heavy equipment including dozer, loader, backhoes, agriculture tractors • Able to work independently with minimum supervision • Able to anticipate needs and fulfill them within job responsibilities • Able to be flexible and multitask • Ability to safely operate equipment PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT: • Working outside in various weather conditions. • Ability to stand, and climb up and down steep slopes • Some cutting operations require bending over and heavy lifting • Pushing and pulling
