Cedar Sinai Park is looking for a full-time Maintenance Technician I! Schedule: Friday-Tuesday, 9:00AM-5:30PM Overview: The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for maintaining and improving the physical plant of Rose Schnitzer Manor and associated equipment and machinery, carpentry and cabinetry. Essential Duties: Maintenance and repair on and including: refrigeration, air conditioning, heat pump units, nurse call system, paging/intercom system, commercial washers and dryers, commercial kitchen equipment, low pressure hydronil heating system, commercial blowers, exhaust fans, circulating pumps, air compressors, auxiliary electric generators. Fire alarm installation and maintenance including smoke detectors. Assist with fire drills, re-sets alarms. Complies with fire and life safety regulations, corrects and/or reports deficiencies to supervisor as necessary. Perform carpentry, cabinetry, and laminate work. Sheet rocking, taping, and texturing. Wall repair, patching, painting, and wallpapering. Replacement of floor and ceiling tiles. Keeps shop, tools, and supplies in a clean, orderly and safe condition. Assists in remodeling and building projects. Set up, take down, movement and arrangement of furniture for special activities. Assist in moving resident furniture and personal belongings as needed. Assist with decorating as assigned. Maintains preventative maintenance schedule and record keeping. Works on other company properties as assigned. Minor maintenance of company vehicles. Notifies supervisor of supply needs. Orders and picks up supplies with authorization of supervisor. Assists residents with maintenance problems in their rooms. Interacts with residents whenever possible to promote communication and obtain new ideas for enriching their well-being and quality of life. Assist with training new staff. Notifies supervisor of broken equipment and other unsafe or unhygienic issues. Works with outside contractors. Assists in remodeling and building projects. Assists with safety program and procedures as needed. At times, required to be available in off duty hours for emergency situations. Qualifications include: Knowledgeable about application professional best practices and standards. Must be able to work around and interact with residents. Must be able to follow instructions and complete assignments without close supervision, able to work with others. Able to project and obtain estimates of materials, time and costs. Must be able to weld and solder. Must be able to distinguish colors, read schedules, product directions, equipment procedures, typewritten reports. Must know how to operate power tools. Consistently excellent customer service. Ethical Conduct Able to effectively communicate with geriatric and/or confused residents and a variety of other people such as family members, visitors, vendors, Private Duty Resident Employees, and staff. Able to remain calm and respond well under stress or in emergency situations. Working Environment: Works in a well-lit and well-ventilated facility. Also works outdoors and may be exposed to excessive heat or cold. May be exposed to confused, belligerent or physically aggressive residents, may be exposed to contagious diseases and mental stress. Works closely with others and at other times works alone. Has frequent exposure to dust, noise, heat, chemical fumes, gases, chemicals, grease, oils, and solvents. Walking surfaces can be slippery or uneven. May be exposed to radiant or electrical energy. Works with and around machinery and moving parts. At times works below ground. Must possess a valid non-encumbered Oregon or Washington driver’s license. Must know how to operate power tools. Must be able to solder.
