Visit oregonhumane.org for more information. The Team The Custodial team plays a crucial role in supporting all aspects of the Oregon Humane Society. Through cross departmental communications and interactions, we ensure a clean, safe and healthy environment for staff, volunteers, donors, the general public, and any and all vendors who find themselves on our ever expanding campus. The Position The Custodian is responsible for cleaning, maintaining, and supporting the needs of the OHS Animal Shelter and Medical facility, grounds and vehicles. All duties are performed according to established safety procedures, OSHA requirements and department guidelines and standards. Also responsible for monitoring supplies needed for facility cleaning and general upkeep. Work as a collaborative team member paying close attention to detail. All OHS staff members contribute to the stewardship of the organization’s mission and are expected to stay current on and understand issues related to animal welfare and OHS programs. The schedule for this position is Sunday - Thursday 6pm - 2:30am PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES • Perform all duties included in weekly cleaning check list, including: sweeping and mopping, vacuuming, dusting, polishing, spot cleaning, emptying trash, restocking, disinfecting high touch areas, and cleaning and sanitizing restrooms throughout the facility and at 8001 NE 14th Place upon request.. • Sweep and mop all floors including the Kennels, Kennels foyer area, cat holding areas and “staff only” hallways on first floor of facility as well as any other areas requested to be mopped. • Disinfect countertops, door handles, switch plates and other high touch areas. Stock paper towel dispensers, hand sanitizers and hand soap dispensers at all appropriate employee work stations, sinks, restrooms, kennel areas and break areas throughout the facility. • Clean windows and sills in Front Lobby, Cat Colony areas and Adoption areas on a daily basis, clean window ledges in all conference rooms and clean window panels on outside of 2nd floor offices on a weekly basis. • Empty garbage containers located in the public kennels areas on a daily basis. • Clean and vacuum air vents throughout facility on a weekly basis. • Clean spills and disinfect spill site as needed; follow protocols for bodily fluid clean-ups as needed. • Clean stainless steel without using an oil or polish in all areas of the facility. • Dispose of and mix cleaning supplies, waste or debris and empty mop buckets according to established safety and department protocols. • Stock cleaning supplies and monitor inventory levels in all appropriate locations throughout the facility. • Detect and report broken items, defective materials or questionable conditions to Facilities Manager. • Adhere to all OHS safety, training, animal and chemical handling and transportation protocols in order to ensure that the Shelter environment is safe for animals, the public, volunteers and other employees. Wear required clothing, identification and safety garments/equipment as defined by OHS policies and procedures. • Attend staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
