650 miles for a cancelled job

I packed up and drove 650 miles for a job, and when I showed up, they cancelled it. I had everything arranged with the company so I would get paid daily. I came into town with just a few extra dollars in my pocket. I started working another job today, but won't get paid for a week. I have no food. I have no gas. I tried staying at a homeless shelter, but I didn't know I had to sign in and out everytime I came in and out of the building. I've never been in this situation before. So they made an example of me. I hate asking, but I need help. I came here to work and by no fault of my own, ended up broke and homeless. My car gets pretty good gas mileage, but on the drive here I ran over a nail, and now I don't dare drive back without a replacement used tire. I'd just work a week and use that money, but I have no food. Someone please help!
