Boiler operators are responsible for maintaining heating systems in large buildings in the boiler and mechanical rooms. They will handle equipment such as low-pressure boilers, steam boilers, and hot water heating systems. It is required that boiler operators to be licensed by the state and local government. Essential functions and responsibilities of the position may vary based on client requirements and business needs. Boiler operators will make manual adjustments to this equipment during their servicing. They are often on their feet, but they also must be physically fit to crawl inside boilers during their inspections. They typically work a 40-hour week. The ability to work the occasional overtime and emergency call-in is a must which can include weekends and holidays. • Must have a minimum of Black Seal Certification • Previous boiler operator experience required • Valid driver's license required • Requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs.
