RED LIGHT WARNING TO CONSUMERS.....Broadway Appliance on Queen St. in Albany is still CHEATING, STEALING, AND LYING to innocent folks who purchase appliances from this business. Other folks have warned you about him here in Craigslist posts and we're confirming that warning. Don't buy your used appliance from Broadway Appliances unless you want to lose money! The owner of the business goes by the name of Jay, or other names at times according to the Oregon Dept. of Justice who has him on their radar due to other reports about him. NOTE: THE OWNER IS SELLING HIS CRAPPY APPLIANCES IN THE "BY OWNER" COLUMN, WHICH IS NON-COMPLIANT WITH CRAIGSLIST POLICY BECAUSE HE'S A BUSINESS BUT HE DOESN'T WANT TO PAY THE $3.00 CHARGE TO DO A BUSINESS LISTING WHEN A BY OWNER LISTING IS FREE. ALSO, HE'S NO LONGER STATING THE BUSINESS NAME, OR HIS NAME, IN HIS ADS ANYMORE. IF THE AD SAYS "30 DAY WARRANTY AND DELIVERY MAY BE POSSIBLE", STAY CLEAR AND DON'T BUY FROM HIM. HE WON'T GIVE YOU ANY REAL WARRANTY WHATSOEVER. *The owner offers a 90 day warranty in his ad and then doesn't give you a receipt unless you ask for one. That receipt is scratched on a random piece of paper with the words "as is" written on it and that's just what he means when you call to tell him the refrigerator isn't cooling!! My friends just paid $250. for a refrigerator "in good working condition" that didn't work when they got it plugged in. It also smelled horrid. The owner said he would return that night to pick up the fridge and bring them something else. They said, no they already had another one lined up and they will take a return of their money when he comes to pick up the crappy refrigerator. After agreeing to come get the old piece of junk, GUESS WHAT???? He never showed up and when they called him he said it wasn't his problem and passed them off to his delivery guy if you can believe that! Then he blocked their calls and texts like he has to other folks. UPDATE:::The latest is that HIS DELIVERY DRIVER HAS QUIT having any contact with him and says, "he's a total scumbag". **When we posted this information on Facebook, there have been EIGHT replies (so far) in agreement with this guy's unethical business practice. They were also ripped off by this businessman.** **And also, multiple posts on NEXT DOOR regarding his scams and cheating.** ==HERE'S ANOTHER CRAIGSLIST POSTER GIVING YOU A WARNING ABOUT BROADWAY APPLIANCE: Local appliance shop scammer. Owner told me appliances were in perfect condition. He had patched the dryer drum on the roller race with glue. Dryer is non functional. Had to reinstall the old dryer. The washing machine shakes violently, and makes mechanical grinding noises. Paid almost $900 for the set. He offered a 90 day guarantee. I've contacted him multiple times about this and he lies to me or tries to accuse me of dropping the machines. He told me he would contact Searing to repair them. Searing told me they've never heard of him. He even wrote the receipt on an index card
