Commercial/Residential Estimator (Plymouth) compensation: $35,000.00 to $45,000.00 employment type: full-time job title: Commercial/Residential Estimator Overview: The estimator position site measures to evaluate what is needed to bid jobs for a specialty retail flooring store. You will be traveling (about 30% of your time) to houses, jobsites, businesses to measure the areas the customer would like new flooring. Then you assess the site, take thorough notes about removal, furniture moving, site conditions, etc. to bid the job. When you get back to your office, you calculate how much material is needed, specify accessories, factor any additional labor, and transfer your notes on a bid sheet, so the office can complete an accurate bid. And after the bid becomes a job, communicate with the installer: details of the job, what it entails, any special notes, etc. Also to visit jobsites periodically to ensure installs are to industry standards, assess any unknowns that arise, etc. Requirements: Read a tape measure Minimum of 18 years of age or older Strong math skills Drivers License Job Details: Responsible for leading the estimating effort for the company while directing the work and providing guidance for projects Well organized, strong communication & presentation skills are a must Detail oriented, able to multitask Able to learn & retain product knowledge Prepares cost estimates and price quotes Proactively seeks new contractors, builders, subcontractors and suppliers, while maintaining existing relationships Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems/issues Makes decisions under conditions of uncertainty, sometimes with incomplete information that produces effective end results Independently reaches out for technical guidance when unusual or complex problems or issues occur May oversee the completion of projects and assignments, including planning, assigning, monitoring and/or reviewing progress of work. Prefers, but willing to train: 1-3 years of experience in related field. Able to measure for the following type projects: Tile, Hardwood, Carpet, LVT, Sheet Vinyl, Commercial/Residential Flooring. Must have knowledge of the construction industry.
